Overview

What does the Airship integration do?

The Airship integration is coming soon and is on the CaptiFi roadmap, so it is not live yet. When it lands, it will let venues sync the guest profiles captured on their WiFi splash page into Airship audiences. Airship is a mobile engagement platform built for push notifications, in-app messaging and SMS journeys, and it is most useful for venues that already run their own branded mobile app. The aim is to feed that app's messaging engine with the consented first-party data your WiFi collects.

Every time a guest signs in to your WiFi and opts in, CaptiFi captures details such as their email address, name, the venue they visited and the date of the visit. Once the connector is live, that profile and the sign-in event will flow into Airship, where you can match guests to existing app users, group them into audiences and trigger journeys. The point of connecting the two is to turn anonymous footfall into known contacts you can re-engage through the channels Airship already powers for you.

Because Airship works best alongside a mobile app and SMS programme, this integration is aimed at larger or multi-site operators who have already invested in an app. If you do not run an app today, the email and SMS integrations that are already live will cover most re-engagement needs while the Airship connector is finished.

What you get

Why connect Airship to CaptiFi

Feed your app with real guest data

It will let you push consented WiFi guest profiles into Airship so your existing app, push and SMS programme has fresh first-party contacts to work with rather than guessing at who visited.

Trigger journeys from a real-world visit

A guest signing in on your WiFi will be able to start an Airship journey, so a physical visit can kick off a push notification, in-app message or SMS sequence automatically.

Build audiences from venue and visit data

It will let you segment Airship audiences by venue, visit date and consent state, so the right guests receive the right message instead of one blanket send.

Keep consent attached to every profile

Only guests who opt in on the splash page will be synced, and their marketing consent travels with the profile so your Airship messaging stays compliant.

What data flows to Airship

How it works

How it will work

1

Join the waiting list

The Airship connector is part of the coming-soon rollout, so the first step is to start a CaptiFi free trial and register your interest so you are notified the moment it goes live.

2

Capture guests on your splash page

In the meantime, set up your branded captive portal so guests opt in when they sign in to the WiFi. This is the consented data that will later flow into Airship.

3

Connect your Airship project

When the integration launches you will authorise CaptiFi against your Airship project so guest profiles can be written into the right Airship audience.

4

Map fields and choose an audience

You will map the CaptiFi guest fields, such as email, name, venue and visit date, to your Airship audience and tags, then confirm only opted-in guests are sent.

5

Build journeys in Airship

Once profiles are flowing you will create push, in-app and SMS journeys in Airship that trigger from a new WiFi sign-in, using the tools your mobile team already knows.

In the real world

How venues use Airship with CaptiFi

Hotel

A hotel group with a guest app will be able to send a returning visitor an in-app offer the next time they join the lobby WiFi, recognising them from their synced profile.

Restaurant

A restaurant chain will be able to trigger an Airship push notification a few days after a guest's WiFi visit, inviting them back with a midweek offer through their existing app.

Retail

A retailer running an app loyalty scheme will be able to enrol guests who sign in on the store WiFi into an SMS welcome journey, turning first-time footfall into app sign-ups.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Is the Airship integration available yet?
Not yet. The Airship connector is coming soon and is on the CaptiFi roadmap, so it is not live at the moment. You can start a free trial today, set up your splash page and begin capturing consented guest data, then move that data into Airship as soon as the integration launches. In the meantime the email and SMS integrations that are already live cover most re-engagement needs.
What data will sync from CaptiFi to Airship?
When the integration is live, the consented guest profile captured on your WiFi splash page will flow into Airship. That includes the guest email address, name and phone number where collected, the venue they visited, the visit date and sign-in event, and their marketing consent state. Only guests who opt in will be synced.
Do I need an Airship account and a mobile app to use this?
Yes. Airship is a mobile engagement platform, so you will need your own Airship account and project. It is most valuable for venues that already run a branded mobile app, since the synced guest profiles drive push notifications, in-app messages and SMS journeys through that app. Venues without an app may find the live email and SMS integrations a better fit for now.
Will WiFi sign-ins be able to trigger Airship journeys?
That is the intent. Once the integration is live, a guest opting in on your WiFi will create or update a profile in Airship, and that event can start a journey such as a welcome push, an in-app message or an SMS sequence. This lets a real-world visit kick off automated mobile engagement without manual work from your team.
Is guest consent respected when profiles reach Airship?
Yes. CaptiFi only captures and syncs guests who opt in on the splash page, and their marketing consent state travels with the profile into Airship. This means the journeys and messages you build in Airship stay aligned with the consent each guest actually gave, keeping your programme compliant.
What can I use today while the Airship connector is being built?
While Airship is still coming soon, you can capture consented guests on your branded splash page and route them to integrations that are already live. Mailchimp and Klaviyo cover email and journeys, Twilio SMS handles text messaging, and your guest data is always available so you are not waiting on Airship to start re-engaging visitors.
